Electro Ceilidh Band Ref: CB130302

Outrageously foot-stomping tunes from this band who mix quirky tunes with beats and attitude. Elegant traditional playing versus raucous rave-like rhythms reveal arrangements to ignite the dance floor. This is the ceilidh band that hurls tradition into the 21st century!

This band are on a crusade to bring a powerfully modern and non-patronising approach to ceilidh music - dance music which has its feet in the heritage and tradition of the British Isles.

They’ve entertained generations new and old all over the world, from the fields of Glastonbury to 8000 people at the Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo, with their cross-genre ceilidh music. Recently augmented by a fifth member on drums/laptop, they’re now on a mission to inject traditional music of the British Isles with the UK’s other great musical exponent – Drum ‘n’ Bass… Hold tight.

The band’s credentials are excellent. Their accordionist is considered to be one of the most talented folk accordionists of recent times. She has many outstanding collaborations to her credit, including those with Sting and Kathryn Tickell. Her powerful delivery is complimented by the fiery and passionate playing of their fiddle player who hails from the Borders region of Scotland. The two of them contribute their own very distinctive compositions to the band's repertoire.

The unique rhythm style of the mandocello blends with the fluid bass guitar and both share an experimental approach to chord progressions, counter rhythms and harmony. Joining the foursome on drums, is a percussionist/Drum and Bass producer who deftly mixes programming with live drumming, providing the beating heart of the live electronic sound.
